Miranda Joseph has undertaken numerous faculty leadership and administrative positions in an effort to enable and encourage the university to fulfill its potential to foster knowledge creation and dissemination in the interest of social justice and provide transformative education to the diverse students and broader publics that it is responsible to serve.

  • Directed PhD, MA/JD, PhD Minor, and Graduate Certificate programs (total enrollment: 21 Majors, 7 Minors, and 3 Certificates) including management of: recruitment and admissions; annual funding ($175,000 temporary teaching funds, $65,000 local fellowship funds, and $35,000 tuition stipends); advising for all students including review of annual reports and supporting fellowship and job applications; and chairing the Graduate Studies Committee (responsible for Graduate Program policies).

  • Managed department of 11 faculty, 5 staff, and PhD and BA degree programs, directed the processes of hiring a new external head and 2 other faculty members, scheduled all courses and faculty assignments, liaised with the dean’s office, and collaborated with community advisory board (Women’s Studies Advisory Council) on fundraising and outreach.

  • Led 30-member shared governance committee to create the annual University of Arizona 5-year strategic plan, provided budget review and advice, and manage re-organization processes. This position entailed service as a member of the President’s Cabinet, the Faculty Senate Executive Committee, and the Faculty Senate, as well as participation in Arizona Board of Regents Strategic Planning processes.
